Qualified provides a dynamic way to engage website visitors through multimodal pounces. These automated messages allow your AI SDR agent to deliver contextual, personalized greetings and nudges based on a visitor's real-time behavior and historical data. By leveraging page content and visitor context, your AI SDR agent can transition a passive visitor into an active sales conversation.

Types of pounces

There are four primary ways your AI SDR agent initiates or continues a conversation with a visitor:

  • Initial pounce: The first text message sent when a visitor loads a page with an active conversation.

  • Scroll pounce: Text nudges triggered when a visitor scrolls a specific section of a page into view.

  • Idle followup pounce: A nudge sent after a visitor has been inactive on the page for 10 seconds. This trigger only fires if a scroll pounce has not already been sent.

  • Voice greeting: The first spoken greeting used when a conversation enters voice or video mode. Currently, your AI SDR agent defaults to "Hi, how can I help you" to ensure rapid load speeds.

How pounces are triggered

The timing of a pounce is determined by specific visitor actions or periods of inactivity:

Initial pounce

These are sent immediately when a multimodal experience starts or when a visitor navigates to a new page while in an active, non-engaged autopilot conversation.

Scroll pounce

These pounces are tied to specific text content on your website. When the visitor scrolls the associated content into view, the agent triggers the nudge.

Idle followup

If the visitor remains inactive for 5 seconds, a pounce is generated. If inactivity continues for a total of 10 seconds, the message is sent.

Context and personalization

To ensure messages are relevant, your AI SDR agent prioritizes several context sources:

  • Email clickthrough: If a visitor arrives via an email campaign, your AI SDR agent acknowledges the specific email content. In idle followups, it may invite the visitor to a meeting.

  • Visitor and lead data: The agent utilizes contact information, matched AI segments, previous conversation history, and ad clickthrough data (such as search terms) to personalize the greeting.

  • Page content: Your AI SDR agent uses AI-generated summaries of page content and structured breakdowns of page sections to tailor its messages.

  • Company description: An overview of your company's offerings is used to ensure the agent remains aligned with your brand.

Page categorization and pounce suppression

Qualified categorizes URLs to determine if a page is high value or low value for engagement. This ensures your AI SDR agent focuses on high-intent areas.

High-value categories

Pouncing and full page context are enabled on pages including:

  • Core pages: Home page and company information (About Us, Leadership, etc.).

  • Products and services: Feature pages, specifications, use cases, and solutions.

  • Pricing and credibility: Pricing pages, ROI calculators, case studies, and customer stories.

  • Sales and resources: Product demos, landing pages, webinars, and ebooks.

Low-value categories

To avoid interrupting visitors in educational or legal contexts, pouncing is typically suppressed on:

  • Bulk content: Blogs, news, and community forums.

  • Documentation: API references, tutorials, and knowledge bases.

  • Legal and support: Privacy policies, terms of service, and support portals.

Setting up your content library

For scroll pounces and page context to function correctly, your content library must be crawled and indexed. This allows the system to properly categorize URLs and summarize content for your AI SDR agent. If your website content changes significantly, ensure your library is updated so the agent can continue to use current page content as context.

Pounce strategy

The primary goal of your AI SDR agent is to greet the visitor and encourage a sales conversation. However, the agent is designed to be helpful, not repetitive. If the available context is not relevant or if a pounce would feel redundant based on previous interactions, the agent may deliberately choose not to generate a message.
